Val Fullard was born in Toronto in 1948. She attended OCA (now OCADU) in 1968 and NSCAD University in 1976-79.

As a graphic designer Val has worked in advertising, package design, and publishing, and in 2002, she was invited to join the Design Program at York University as a contract faculty member, where she brought her love of typography, design, and animation to the programme as well as creating a course in experimental typography.

Val has published her fonts through Monotype and Font Shop International, and is the recipient of several awards for her cover designs, including the Miramichi Reader’s Best Cover Design for La Brigantessa, by Roseanna Micelotta Battigelli, who also won for Best Novel.
